Before you set out
Open the official game on a desktop or laptop. Choose a server and play as a guest, or connect Discord for cross-device access and social features. Guest progress is tied to that browser, so keep the browser data for a character you want to revisit.
Press J to see your goals and pin the next one. Use Alt when you need the cursor, and O for settings. The controls reference is useful to keep open beside the game.
Make your first tools
- Gather the basics. Hold left mouse on trees and rocks. Press F at fiber plants, then collect the materials.
- Make four Planks. Open C and split logs by hand. Open B and place a Workbench.
- Craft Sticks and Rope. A log produces two Sticks; three Fiber make one Rope.
- Use the Workbench. Stand beside it and press F. Make a Stone Axe or Stone Pickaxe, then equip the finished tool from your Pack.
The pickaxe recipe is 2 Sticks + 2 Stone Chunks + 1 Rope. Check “Can make” and material discovery if a recipe is missing. Hand crafting and station crafting have different menus.
Set a rest point and stock food
Build a Campfire with 4 Stone Chunks + 3 Wood Logs. Rest nearby with Z and look for the rest-point confirmation. Pick apples from trees and berries from fiber plants; hunger affects recovery, and running out of stamina slows work.
Store supplies before a risky trip. Pack goods now drop on death, so learn the recovery rules before carrying all your ore into unfamiliar territory.
Work toward bronze
Mine copper with your Stone Pickaxe. Make a Panning Tray from two Planks and pan at water edges for tin grains. Build a Smelter, make Charcoal at the Campfire, and turn those materials into copper and tin ingots.
At a Smelter, 2 Copper Ingots + 1 Tin Ingot + 1 Charcoal yield 2 Bronze Ingots. A Bronze Pickaxe Head needs three Bronze Ingots. Build a Stonecutter for Cut Stone, then a Forge; shape the head there and fit a handle at the Workbench. See the forge walkthrough for the next steps.
